Over the last two weeks I’ve been asked a few times what it’s like to give myself my Methotrexate injections and what all I use for prep.
So behold…
I just use some cotton rounds to wipe my belly with the peroxide or alcohol and then I have my sharps container(I had to buy mine separately from the pharmacy) that I dispose of my needles in.
I take my Methotrexate injections once a week at around 0.5ml each. The after effects of it kick in about….3 hours after taking the injection. I get MAJOR fatigue from just after takin it til about two days after, which usually only gives me like 3 days of bounce back time before I have to take it again and repeat the cycle. 😑🤦🏾♀️🤷🏾♀️
Don’t get me wrong, before I got back on Methotrexate, I was being ate up by my Crohns and it wouldn’t stop. This at least suppresses the aggressive development and inflammation some, but not a crazy amount.
However, Methotrexate has more than enough downsides to it as well. It’s a black box warning ⚠️ product , which means what it sounds like. Lol.
For fertile women, you must use two forms of contraception… (pull out and pray doesn’t count, y’all lol. ) because of the afore mentioned black box warning. So, just be responsible and don’t slack off on your pills and get knocked up while on this.
Along with the injections I take a form of chemotherapy, Entyvio, once every 8 weeks. I have been taking this particular make up of infusion for 7 months and I really can’t see a huge difference, other than the first 2.5-3 weeks after the infusion. I feel a little bit less pain and instead of 4-9 bathroom trips, it’s like 1-4. Little traces of blood still here and there, but nothing too crazy.
Then it wears off and I feel like I face plant and start the cycle over. 🤦🏾♀️
Anyways, that’s neither here nor there, it is what it is and that’s just what it is lol. 🤷🏾♀️😜
If you can’t change the situation, change the way you handle it.
Oh yeah, how I keep my hair…
I’ll make another post in a bit on what all I do. And yes, this is my real hair. 😑🤣
Love you guys.
