Destiny vs Free Will: Can You Really Mess Up Your Soul’s Plan?

Prefer to Watch This Episode?

There’s a question that has followed humanity for centuries:

Do we actually have free will… or is everything already destined?

It’s one of the most debated topics in spirituality, philosophy, religion, and consciousness work. And recently, a lot of you have been asking me to speak on it.

So let’s go there.

Because the truth might be more layered than you think.

Do We Have Free Will If Destiny Is Real?

Here’s how I see it.

God. Source. Universe. (GSU.)
It almost feels like there’s a cosmic sense of humor at play.

You’re given choices. Doors. Staircases. Elevators. Paths.

You can:

  • Take the stairs slowly.
  • Run up the steps.
  • Ride the elevator.
  • Walk through Door A… or Door B.

And it feels like you’re making completely independent decisions.

But here’s the key:

No matter which route you choose, you still arrive at your destined destination at the destined time.

The difference?

The route determines:

  • How much suffering you experience
  • How many lessons you repeat
  • How many obstacles you encounter
  • Whether you move like the tortoise… or try to speed-run like the hare

But the end point?

It remains the same.

The Biggest Fear: “What If I Messed Up My Destiny?”

This is where most people spiral.

  • “I should’ve taken that opportunity.”
  • “I shouldn’t have dated that person.”
  • “If I studied abroad, my life would’ve turned out differently.”
  • “I ruined everything.”

Let me say this clearly:

You cannot mess up your destiny.

You can create more resistance.
You can delay lessons.
You can choose harder routes.

But you cannot destroy what your soul signed up to accomplish.

There is no “wrong” decision in the grand scheme of your incarnation.

There are only different experiences of the same destination.

The Business Example: Empire Either Way

Let’s say you turn down a big business opportunity.

Maybe you didn’t partner with someone powerful.
Maybe you didn’t take the “easy” route.

But eventually… you still build your own empire.

Now imagine you did take the opportunity.

Maybe you would’ve had:

  • More capital
  • More support
  • More leverage

But the final outcome?
You building your empire.

Still inevitable.

The route changes.
The destination doesn’t.

Soul Contracts & Incarnation: You Chose the Curriculum

Here’s where this deepens.

Think of your life like a video game.

Before incarnating, your soul customized your avatar.

  • Star signs.
  • Personality traits.
  • Core wounds.
  • Strengths.
  • Key people.
  • Lessons.
  • Contracts.

It’s like selecting:

  • Your major.
  • Your required courses.
  • Your electives.

Some classes are mandatory.

Others? Optional for flavor.

The same applies to people.

That toxic ex?
That painful family dynamic?
That “why did this happen to me?” chapter?

Sometimes they were required courses.

They had the necessary components to trigger the lesson you signed up to pass.

That’s not romanticizing pain.
It’s recognizing design.

“But What About Truly Horrible People?”

This is where it gets uncomfortable.

There are two sides to every coin.

Just as some souls incarnate to bring healing, light, and guidance…

Others incarnate to create chaos, pain, and catalyst.

You cannot have light without dark.
You cannot experience growth without friction.

That doesn’t justify harm.
But it does acknowledge polarity as part of universal structure.

Some people are lessons.
Some people are blessings.
Some are both.

Where Free Will Actually Lives

So do we have free will?

Yes.

You have free will in:

  • Your reactions
  • Your mindset
  • Your emotional processing
  • Your interpretation of events
  • Which doorway you walk through

But the core checkpoints of your soul contract are set in stone.

Free will governs your experience of the journey.

Destiny governs the destination.

The Shame Narrative Isn’t Divine

Most regret doesn’t come from GSU.

It comes from humans.

From society.
From expectations.
From comparison.
From “should’ve, could’ve, would’ve.”

The Universe isn’t shaming you for your choices.

It’s integrating them.

If consequences exist, you experience them.
That’s cause and effect.

But shame is usually man-made.

You Cannot Be Taken Off Your Path

Let me anchor this:

  • No one can steal your destiny.
  • You cannot irreversibly ruin your soul’s mission.
  • You cannot make a decision so catastrophic that your contract dissolves.

If something is written into your life plan…

You will circle back to it.

Even if you detour.
Even if you resist.
Even if you take the scenic route.

You always arrive.

Destiny vs Free Will: The Final Answer

Here’s my distilled take:

You have free will to choose the route.

But every route leads to the same soul-level destination.

You can:

  • Choose ease or resistance.
  • Choose speed or patience.
  • Choose awareness or unconscious repetition.

But the endpoint is already encoded before you incarnate.
